Some thoughts about reactions like this thread. The point of #NeverTrump was not a "we'll never have Trump as a President" movement, it was "My convictions will not allow me to ever support such an individual." It was about moral convictions, not just the 2016 vote. 1/
The reason I'm responding here is because I've seen quite a few #NeverTrump conservatives now claim that they will most likely vote for Trump (Erickson, Walsh, etc...), and it's being met by applause. 2/
We've all voted for people who don't completely align with us., but this is an entirely different ballgame for many reasons. One example:
"Justifying killing babies after they're born, defending faux hate crimes, and openly hating Israel." Those are blatant lies being spread, and I feel like people have convinced themselves they're not blatant lies in order to feel better about their choice. That's not healthy. 4/
They're voting for Trump. This is the foregone conclusion they will now do anything to justify, including ignoring the atrocious behavior of the man in the White House, lying about where Democrats stand on various policies, and embracing the hate & fear the GOP is now selling. 5/
This desperation to eliminate moral roadblocks is what allows many of these pundits to complain about name calling while simultaneously accusing the left of wanting to murder perfectly healthy babies outside of the womb. 6/
Additionally, you'd have to search very hard to find 10 prominent Republicans who stood against children being separated at the border, abuse in detention centers, the President's attacks on the citizens he's supposed to be representing, dehumanizing comments towards minorities..
And on and on. Their silence is deafening, and if you believe they shouldn't be held accountable at this point I'm not sure what to tell you. This isn't your average bad presidency. We're the laughing stock of the world, and Trump has made a mockery of the highest office. 8/
Minorities in this nation feel abandoned.
Thousands of innocent children are still separated from their parents and traumatized after their families sought asylum from attrocities.
Tariffs are hurting our country.
The Muslim ban has done so much damage. 9/
Our relationship with allies is shaky while our relationship with vicious world leaders is improving. Example (and let's not pretend like Obama would've gotten away with this):
The President of the United States tweets like a 7th grade mean girl. Daily.
He has misused his power countless times, and attempted to misuse it countless more.
Trump has spit on veterans more times than I can count, and publicly attacked American heroes like John McCain. 11/
The President of the United States has accused a large portion of this country of hating America. (Remember, these are people he's supposed to represent. Is this what's "best for our nation"?) 12/
Trump told a sheriff to "destroy" the career of a senator who sought to end the government endorsed theft that is Civil Asset Forfeiture. (What say you, self-proclaimed conservatives?)
And are we still pretending like Stephen Miller isn't a White Nationalist? 13/
The Government shutdown that hurt our nation while Trump held the jobs of citizens hostage to try and bully his way into building a wall we all know is worthless.
Trump supports punishment by law for women who have abortions. 14/
Trump is now threatening to use asylum seekers as weapons against his enemies. This isn't a real threat, but he thinks it is and that's what matters. If he thinks they're *that* dangerous then he's saying he's willing to put citizens in danger to punish his political opponents.
Trump instructed law enforcement officers to disregard the law/judges to hurt asylum seekers.
He called some Nazis "very fine people."
He cut off aid to police forces in Central America fighting cartels.
He's encouraged violence.
Dogwhistled about the migrant caravan. 16/
I could honestly keep going all day long.

You're upset about name calling? Or are you worried that the shoe fits and it makes you feel bad about a vote you've already decided to cast?

Are you upset about Omar and AOC? Good news! They're not running for President. 17/
Just be honest and say you're willing to accept all of this because you hate Democrats *that* much. Vote for him if that's what aligns with your convictions, but for God's sake stop pretending like this circus is okay when you damn well know it's not. 18/
Stop acting like every little thing someone on the left does is equal to ANYTHING Trump has done. Acknowledge what he's done, be honest with us about what you're willing to support - and what you're willing to see people endure - for the sake of keeping Republicans in power. 19/x
