Ah, yes, the action of a true leader, writing formal letters to websites to complain that they are allowed to criticize him nytimes.com/2019/04/14/us/…
There are multiple publications that straight-up do not want to publish positive coverage of a single candidate whose name isn’t Bernie Sanders. There are media platforms centered around supporting him. If he’s OK with that, he’s not in a place to object to other editorial POVs.
The assumption that Sanders literally needs to be held to a different standard of coverage than other candidates, must be held above criticism, and that any unflattering coverage is conspiratorial or counter-revolutionary, has always been ugly.
People already go soft on the guy, and under-cover his errors, because they believe his intentions are good. So aside from the depressing fact of a would-be commander-in-chief pursuing Twitter beef with Neera Tanden, this is just weak sauce.
Frontrunners mandate disproportionate scrutiny, because their mistakes and flaws stand to matter more! That’s what I heard twice a week in ‘16. I’m excited to hear how this “rule” has specifically changed to benefit Bernie Sanders, for... reasons.
