I should take this one if that's okay.

The @factchecknet and/or @Poynter do not run fact-checking for Facebook in any capacity. Facebook runs its 3rd Party Fact-Checking program with the program partners one to one.
Let's go step by step and breakdown the process of how @factchecknet operates and where Facebook's 3rd Party Fact-Checking Program gets involved.
According to the @ReportersLab, there are 160 active and 67 inactive fact-checking outlets in the world. It's far by the most comprehensive database of fact-checkers in the world.

International Fact-Checking Network (@factchecknet) as the umbrella organization for fact-checkers, introduced a set of criteria a.k.a Code of Principles in 2016 to;

-uphold the standards in fact-checking
-put the fact-checkers accountable

Fact-checking organizations found to be compiled to those commitments after a thorough process (external assessment + vetting by a jury of leaders in the field) are @factchecknet's verified signatories.

Today; there are 62 organizations in this status.

The vetting process is one of a kind in the field. It's not perfect and there is definitely room to improve, even though it's by far more credible than some trust measuring endeavors, but that's not the case. FWIW, there will be some news soon re the improvement of our CoP ⏳
Facebook's 3rd Party Fact-Checking Program uses @factchecknet's Code of Principles (list of verified signatories) as a necessary condition to start partnerships with fact-checkers. Yes, that's right.

Let's see to a which extent this role goes

poynter.org/fact-checking/…
Correct, Facebook asks being a verified signatory to @factchecknet's Code of Principles as a necessary condition. But that's absolutely not true that they have to work with each organization that @factchecknet accredited to be a verified signatory.

axios.com/facebook-fact-…
Facebook does not have to work with every fact-checking organization that @factchecknet vets to be a verified signatory, and actually, they really don't work with all of them.

@dogrulukpayicom, that I'm a co-founder is not a partner per se while @teyitorg again from Turkey is.
While I already start to hear some of you will be like a little surprised but, @factchecknet's Code of Principles is bigger than Facebook's 3rd Party Fact-Checking Program, and I can't criticize Facebook for using it as a reference to start their partnerships.
Given the news regarding @Check_Your_Fact's partnership with Facebook, I hope the framework I've tried to outline can be helpful. It's true that the fact-checking unit of @DailyCaller is able to start a partnership with Facebook after being a verified signatory, again.
There is no one better in this world than @Mantzarlis to explain the whole background of @Check_Your_Fact's application to @factchecknet's Code of Principles.

Disclosure: @Mantzarlis was the director at the time & I was at the advisory board.
I wasn't able to respond to @SamTLevin's immediate comment request for the @guardian story due to the time zone I'm currently in, but I hope this was useful.
