THREAD:
Trying to process the most consequential document in our modern political history.

(Most inconveniently released during spring break week, as I’m in Mexico with a bad internet connection.)
BUT I feel a need to memorialize my understanding.

The U.S. suffered a “sweeping and systemic” attack by the Russian military;
The current President of the United States invited it as a candidate (5 hours after he called on Russia to find Hillary’s emails, the Russian military tried to hack her);

He was eager to profit from it in order to advance his campaign (as opposed to reporting it to the FBI);
Lied about his campaign’s contacts, including a Moscow Tower deal that was being pursued during his campaign and could have made him hundreds of millions);
Got others to lie as well and tried his hardest to discredit and fire the special counsel investigating him while bullying those who wouldn’t lie, like Don McGahn;

Dangled pardons to try and stymie testimony of others;
His campaign chair traded critical polling information to help the Russian military target those attacks, especially in the Midwest, where Trump won by a handful of votes;
He then sought to curry favor with the Russians by looking to ease sanctions after the attack; and has done little to prevent the next attack.
The counter intelligence investigation of whether he is, to this day, compromised (different from committing a criminal act) by a hostile foreign power is an open question.
One of the most heavily redacted sections is the one regarding information sharing with Wikileaks.
On obstruction, Trump’s AG (who auditioned for the job by calling the investigation “fatally flawed”) attempted to shut down the case (weeks before sharing the report with Congress/the public) by misrepresenting the report, ...
... even though Mueller clearly made a recommendation to Congress to weigh the facts and draw their own conclusion.
Trump allies will spin this as a “political fight” and 30% are likely to continue to believe it was a “witch hunt," even though it was a Republican who appointed the special counsel;
a Republican who conducted the investigation; and Republicans like Mitt Romney who now say they are "sickened" by the report and the level of dishonesty it reveals.
Finally, thanks for reading to the end and here’s a pic of a chubby sea lion.
