Good article in last weeks @NewYorker about conspiracy theories based on an academic research. Basically they have always existed, they are not necessarily more prevalent now then any other time, but there may have been an uptick in elite take up of them nyer.cm/lSjnzQr
@NewYorker ... you can see that, in my view, in the current Labour Party which seems to have become a relatively welcome home for people who believe in conspiracy theories, particularly anti-Semitic, anti-vaccine.
... It’s no coincidence that Momentum made a video for their followers saying that David Icke was a dangerous conspiracy theorist. They clearly saw it as something which was spreading through the movement’s followers
