Color me bewildered by this whole exchange—and the 300 others like it. Why people think they are entitled to assign me writing and prioritize my projects is utterly beyond me. Right now I am trying to make sense of the Mueller report for the benefit of my readers.
I have had some things to say about Barr along the way, and I will have some more in all probability. But my focus is on explaining to the best of my ability what Mueller did and said and what it means.
If you don't like that, sorry. Read someone else.
When I am done with that that, I will have more to say about Barr’s appalling conduct.
But for those of you waiting breathlessly for my recantation of my willingness to give him the benefit of the doubt on the narrow question of the redaction of the report, read what I actually wrote and don't hold your breath.
That is actually the one matter which I think he handled reasonably in this whole affair. The redactions are aggressive in some areas, to my taste, but seem pretty plausible for the most part.
For those who want to use the phrase "benefit of the doubt" to imply that I was giving Barr some generic character reference, rather than making a narrow point about a very specific matter, you're being silly and distortive.
And for those who think this has anything to do with Brett Kavanaugh, I really can’t help you. And I’m not going to try.
