if i were being sued in federal court for my neo-nazi social club’s involvement in a violent riot, i would simply not lie to a federal judge about accidentally dropping my phone in a toilet in an attempt to thwart the discovery process.
(making the judge mad is a bad idea!)
toilet phone or no, the national socialist movement’s jeff schoep has been ordered to turn over access to his websites, social media accounts, email accounts, and laptop within 7 days. did he think he could just ignore this problem until it went away?
while things like contempt and perjury are not the same in a civil case as they might be in criminal court, it’s still not a GREAT idea to lie under oath or refuse to comply with a judge’s orders.
schoep claimed today to not even know what bitchute is, let alone have access to NSM’s account. a year ago, under oath, he told the judge he used the account to communicate messages about his group’s involvement with the unite the right rally.
“that was a sworn statement and i’m not letting you walk that back,” judge moon told schoep of his repeated denials today of ownership or access to accounts he swore under oath last year that he’d used leading up to the deadly rally.
(clarification: no one was under oath on today’s call, but schoep’s prior statements about having had access to and using those accounts WERE. the judge ordered him to turn over the credentials for the accounts within 7 days...
if he chooses to maintain, as he stated today, that he has never had access to some of the accounts, he is to submit a statement to that effect. the end result would be one of his sworn statements would have to be a lie.)
