Is @Benioff’s @time going to become a place where the tech elite get to pretend they got their billions all by their own ingenuity? It would be par for the course for the industry, but disappointing from him/his pub.

When did parents—who often ask for no gifts for their own kid—start thinking they need to send a kid home with crap? You fed them and entertained them for a few hours. YOUR JOB IS DONE.

I love this question and tried to answer it yesterday and got bogged down over the fact that there's a mix of famous people who are sort of from Madison but not really, and people from Madison who are sort of famous but not really.
Also, I'm really not sure how Frank Lloyd Wright or Chris Farley would actually do in a fight.

Did you know that Georgia O'Keefe is sort of (but not really) from Madison? (I hadn't realized this until I looked up a list.)

According to statistical tests, NYT Upshot House polling turned sharply more Republican in polls taken since October 1 and the trend seems to have continued with its Senate polling.
Here's day by day evidence of the GOP's good run in House polling.

Upshot polling data was split up into (estimated) days, a statistical model was run based on the first 10 days of polls, and actual responses were compared to the model. Upswing began around 10/3.
The Upshot data files don't have a date of interview, so they were split up evenly over the field dates. This isn't exact, but hopefully any errors are smoothed out.

Of course, this is still dependent on the races being polled - it could be these are strong GOP candidates.

Good to see she apologised. As I noted in my essay, however, this case and the many others like it raise ethical issues that'll only become more pressing with time as we become more integrated with our tech.
Of course, now there are a lot of people zealously attacking her--a reminder that the firehose of social media attention runs both hot and cold. But it also misses the point. Blair could've been anyone. And there will be others who invasively livetweet. This is a bigger issue.
In that quest for a "good story" people will look for heroes--and villains. That's what the Plane Bae debacle was about, after all. Now, in this new phase, Blair is a villain. Individualising this story, making it about one person's failings, will not help us grow as a society.
