John Minford, #SunTzu 5: 21 "Relying on the energy, he sends his men into battle like a man rolling logs or boulders. By their nature, on level ground logs and boulders stay still; on steep ground they move; square, they halt; round, they roll.

Concluding #SunTzu 5: 21 "Skillfully deployed soldiers are like round boulders rolling down a mighty mountainside."
Who knew that victorious warfare was the difference between squares and circles? Let's go straight there. What is Master Sun talking about? Yes, it's obviously a metaphor. But really, squares and circles? Really! A circle is support. A square is resistance.
Okay, circles and squares are essentially two dimensional things, so let's bring them off paper and into the real world, in three dimensions: balls and blocks. Balls roll, blocks don't. Blocks resist motion. Balls do not resist, they support motion.
Go minute. Picture a great, square block of granite. The kind they use in building walls or cathedrals. It's just not going anywhere. Even on a mountainside, the very first reduction in slope, it'll just stop. Why? Its corners are strong. They resist rolling. Resistance.
Whereas a ball, a sphere, a 360 degree circle will roll and roll and roll some more. It is the nature of a ball to roll forward in any directing the first shove indicated. A ball, a circle, is virtually resistance free. It supports the decision of the person who put it in motion.
If you've never engaged in geometric meditation, begin now. A circle invites motion, it is supportive. A square resists motion, it is NOT supportive. And be clear. Good followers are circles, bad followers are squares. Not everyone should be a follower, or a good follower.
By nature, I am absolutely a square. And yes, this absolutely applies to the 1960s when the fact that I was a square was established by my circular sister. She is 6 years older than me, and 6 times cooler. She was a circle. She embraced the changes of the day.
Going with the flow is a circular motion. I totally suck at it. I am often the most block headed idiot you'll ever meet. I am a square. I am a terrible follower. Except, there is the mission. If I buy into the mission, then, I round my square edges and roll. Rock and roll!
The metaphor here is that followers are either boulders (or logs) or they are blocks. They either naturally support the mission, or they resist it. In followership, resistance is NOT a good thing. Blockheaded as I am, it took me many years to discover how to be a good follower.
What is the mountain slope? What turns me into a round boulder? It is the mission itself. If a leader signs me on for the mission, all my resistance disappears. Well, I have to respect the leader, too. But those are my two requirements. Leader respect and mission buy in.
And who is the leader? The one who ascertains the potential energy. Water flows downhill. It's far less resistant than even the roundest of boulders. The leader deploys his men, at least, like round boulders rolling down a great mountainside. Give me such a leader, and I follow.
What is steep ground? Righteousness is steep ground. The more I morally support the righteousness of the cause, the softer my sharp edges become, the more I roll in support of my leader's righteous cause. Rounded edges, roll me down the mountain, boss!
In America, we're very independent, naturally squarish people. We don't lead well, which is to say, we're not easily led. The reason so few are leaders is this. You must round off the square edges of your followers. You must reduce their resistance, increase their support.
Return now to Master Sun's most basic five ideas. The Way. Heaven. Earth. Command. Discipline. Leaders find followers who agree with him over The Way. He finds followers who accept his read of Heaven's will. He deploys them on the Earth. They accept his command, his commands.
His command is his position as leader, his charge to serve the state, the nation, or in our case, the self-proclaimed mission to make America great again. His commands are his orders, the charges he expresses to go do this, to go do that, to get this or that done.
This is the ultimate advantage of the left, of the Alinsky followers. They are empowered to give commands. We on the right hesitate. We do not command. We do not roll round boulders down steep mountainsides. That is what Alinsky got right, that we get wrong.
So, what is the question of the boulder? Have you found the mountainside, leader? Does the leader have the right mission, at the right time, sufficient to round all the edges of his followers so they can roll down with avalanche force? The right mission? Yes!
Nationally, it is @realDonaldTrump and reelection. State by state, is the House and Senate in 2020. It descends from there, rapidly. What's your local school district's budget and how will it be spent? Which leader will rise to determine the mission at hand? Follow, or lead?
If you have no leader to follow, find followers who will follow your lead. Be bold. Climb to the top of the mountain. Discern your mission. Lead. Or, allow your leader to round your edges, and simply perform by the dictates of the mission. Follow. One or the other.
Last point for today. The MAGA movement owns the mountainside. We have the principles upon which we should ALL round our edges. Nature, or God's Will, if you will, is on our side. The American principles, our rights - life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness - are ours.
America Herself is the mountain. Our Declaration and Constitution are the slope, the mountainside. @POTUS is our leader. And we, his supportive followers are the rounded boulders to roll down. We have this. #WarForAmerica2020 is ours to win. Let's roll.

The local MAGA leader’s library needs three other books. The first is by my great friend, hero, and today’s greatest constitutional scholar, @shestokas. His most important work so far is:
