DOJ going after another pharmaceutical company for fraud! They have joined a whistleblower lawsuit against the company filed by 2 former employees.

Selling a $40 dollar product to Medicare for $39,000 is good work if you can get it. You don't think anyone with the feds could have noticed this?

Seems weird how you can manipulate something to bill Medicare $2B for a product without anyone but CNN noticing!
Well the DOJ got involved on March 6th joining the lawsuit. Similar to the case with Duke U. a few weeks ago where the whistleblower got $33M out of the settlement!

Seems DOJ didn't believe their sob story, I guess the rule of law is returning after all!

The pharmaceutical companies camouflage their kickbacks as consulting fees & research grants to make it look like legitimate expenses. Making it hard for the government to bring a case unless they want to! I guess past administrations didn't want to!

CNN trips of this little gem, seems the current administration (which they don't name for some funny reason) is making a real effort to combat healthcare fraud. I have seen that in other cases too! But when CNN has to admit it! #ButNothingsHappening

The DOJ is also using data analytics to identify suspicious patterns of prescribing activity by doctors. Initially this was used to target opiod abuse but it looks like it has expanded to medicare fraud & other crimes too! Healthcare will be cheaper without $1M bribes to docs!

Seems $6.5M in 'payments' to doctors gets you about $2B dollars out of medicare, seems very profitable if no one is convicting you!

If you think this case is new, it isn't. It has been pending since 2012, but only now did the DOJ join in the lawsuit with the whistleblowers. Wonder what the DOJ was doing between 2012 & 2017?

These guys are scum, they got away with robbing people & the Medicare system since at least 2007. They are finally looking like they will face some justice!

Let's hope we see the receipts soon! Especially if some go to politicians & regulators to make sure no one looked closely at the issues!

But I expect they are going to eventually get there!
