sexual orientation and attraction is about sex at birth and if you think that it’s not or can’t understand why people say that it is, you’re probably bisexual
the argument about why ppl should be willing to date trans people that goes “so you’re telling me if you fell in love with someone and then found out they were trans you’d just stop feeling that way?” is utterly fucking ridiculous for a number of reasons
like this i guess goes into the whole “should someone have to disclose their trans status to everyone they may date” thing, but if i would genuinely not be able to fall in love with someone if i was not aware of what their ASAB is because that’s like.. a huge part of who they are
like, being trans is not just some little fun fact about a person like some funny story from childhood they never told you, it affects every aspect of your life, the experiences you have and who you are as a person
so even if i were to “fall in love” with someone who i didn’t know was trans, if they hadn’t made a point to share that with me until our relationship had developed to the point of telling them i was in love with them i would feel like i had no idea who they truly were ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
also, to be frank, everyone who says this is grossly overestimating the amount of trans people who are completely stealth to the point where dating and getting to know someone intimately wouldn’t alert you to their ASAB at some point, lol.

here’s the things that females/lesbians have that straight males don’t: healthy communities. and so many are unable or unwilling to form healthy communities with one another. it’s so much easier to be allowed to come into a community that already exists and supports each other.
the problem w this is that different communities need to exist for different people with different needs. trans women don’t have the same social, political, & safety issues/needs as females. they both do have their own, but consider what females are fighting for v what TIMs are.
female communities fight for our reproductive freedom. for justice for all the females being sexually exploited by men on the basis of their sex. for equal pay, the elimination of medical bias, we fight against beauty standards and domestic abuse women face at the hands of men.

so what can you do? upon hearing this information the instinct is to panic. but what’s most important is taking CARE OF THE FEMALES IN YOUR LIFE IN THIS COMMUNITY FIRST. IF I CAN STRESS ANYTHING IT IS THIS: they are READY for you.
they have male ammunition, support, and it’s all in real time. any point you make these TIMs will twist. what they need is to be told that they are not alone. that they can talk freely with you about their feelings. that you will not judge them, you care and want to support them.
it is like an abusive relationship. the more you push the more they pull. it’s delicate - a balance, and the women are most important. before who is right and who is wrong. there are young females at risk right now. and they are ready to do anything to defend their males.

the reality is this: girlhood is traumatizing. if it was not for you, as a female, you are lucky. this is harsh. it is true. they are self aware enough to keep men as a common enemy, but now it’s become men (as an identity) and masculine people.
even masculine females have privilege over feminine ones, because they can exhibit toxic masculinity.
another way to make the females in these spaces, many of whom are GNC to begin with, feel guilty and personally responsible for what happens to trans women.
because the badness comes from Being A Man/Being Masculine, (unless you’re male, and a transbian, in which case you’re butch and still privileged over ‘cis butches’ because of the fact that they’re cis and you’re not.)

This is what I call an Important Thing.™️

@FRCdc is trying to claim that the evidence of human sexual fluidity means that sexual orientation is mutable (changeable) and that therefore sexual orientation isn't a protected class under civil rights law.
Now, a government can PASS a law about whatever, but courts will decide if said law is LEGAL.

US jurisprudence (how case law interprets statutes) has created a system of criteria that are required in order to decide if a law that targets a specific group of people is LEGAL.

During a recent presentation I gave on how non-monosexuals can support #bisexual and #pansexual people, a man asked the following "question":

Man: I think there is something important to queerness about being able to critique heteronormativity through humor . . . ?
Now, I've given a few presentations.

And I've met a few men.

And I've heard a few "questions."

Here's what this man wanted to ask me.

"I reeeeeeaallllly want to continue to make fun of bisexual people in different sex relationships, but you made it so sad! Can I please??"
I replied as best I could with sincerity and good assumptions. I told him that jokes about heternormativity have hurt me in the past, as someone in a different sex relationship.

And I told him that I try to locate my critiques at a larger target: the patriarchy.

I looked up @lgbtmap's resources showing which states have passed bans against #conversiontherapy on the basis of sexual orientation for minors. The states are CA, WA, OR, NV, NM, IL, VT, NH, RI, CT, NJ, DE, and MD + D.C. lgbtmap.org/equality-maps/….
Here are the relevant portions of CA's law: "This bill would prohibit a mental health provider, as defined, from engaging in sexual orientation change efforts, as defined, with a patient under 18 years of age."
“Sexual orientation change efforts” means any practices by mental health providers that seek to change an individual’s sexual orientation.
