The Senate is now taking up the amended version of #HB7123. Senator @kellistargel has recommended that the Senate accept the House's modifications.
Sen. @TomLeeFL has asked for clarification on how the bill is currently different from what the Senate passed earlier this morning.
In questioning, Sen @KevinRader asks how the proportional sharing is determined.

Sen. @kellistargel responds with a lot of words none of which answer the question,
Sen.@senpizzo clarifies that the amendment would me prospective not retrospective.
Sen. @FarmerForFLSen says, "We're being forced to take this language. We've voted against this twice"
I'm wondering when this Senate will stand up and say "Enough is enough." says Sen. @TomLeeFL who says for the first time he's voting no on a tax package and hopes some of his Republican colleagues will join him.
Sen. @SenMannyDiazJr just repeated something on the Senate floor he knows is untrue. He spread the myth that voters in Miami didn't know what they were voting on.

#SB7030 is up for final passage in the House right now. You can watch here thefloridachannel.org

This will be the final stop before the bill reaches the governor's desk.

As with yesterday's #SB7070 this bill will have structured debate 15 min. per side.
First to debate is Rep. @CindyPoloFL103 who says she had a speech ready weeks ago but that last night's questioning and debate changed that speech. "I'm trying to find a balance btw being angry and keeping you accountable," she says.
Rep. @CindyPoloFL103 continues by saying "We have forgotten the impact that this new world has on our children...I don't believe that having more weapons in classrooms gets it right." Rep. Polo also apologizes for "losing focus" last night during questioning.

Later today, the Florida House will take up #SB7070 a bill to expand voucher programs. Those who support the bill will talk about the need to eliminate "waitlists" and how the vouchers over the past decade have helped to "expand opportunity." 1/6
It's worth examining that claim to see just how much opportunity expansion there actually has been.
In 2005, private school enrollment comprised 11.6% of total public and private school enrollment.
Since that time billions of dollars have been spent on vouchers. 2/6

In 2017-18, private school enrollment is still at 11.6% of total public and private school enrollment. 3/6

It's almost 10pm, and the Florida House is about to take up #HB7123 a bill that would strip local control from school districts and force tax levies to be shared with charter schools.
There is no good reason for them to be taking the bill up at this time of night; they've been in session since 10:30 this morning, and the bill was placed on 2nd reading a full week ago. You can follow along here: thefloridachannel.org
#HB7123 is now being discussed. Rep @BryanAvilaFL is introducing the bill. There will be five proposed amendments to the bill to be discussed.

Back in the courtroom today. I'll play a bit of catch up with you all now that I'm back down in the media room. A medical examiner finished up on the stand and then Bates's youngest daughter testified. I'll tweet out the notes in this thread. @KVUE kvue.com/article/news/l…
When court started up, the defense cross-examined the medical examiner we heard from yesterday. She testified that there were substances (meth) found in Bates's blood and clarified that her job is not to tell who committed the crime, just what was done.
Remember, yesterday she testified the cause of death was blunt force trauma and the manner was homicide.

2⃣ Aside from Revenue(tax) bills, bills can originate either in the House, the Senate or both simultaneously. When the bill has been polished it goes to a vote. There are two primary types of vote & one that is considered a countermeasure. #Senate ⬇️

The Wisconsin Legislature is getting a late start today for the lame duck session to restrict the powers of Gov.-elect Evers and Attorney General-elect Kaul. The Senate was scheduled to begin at 11, the Assembly at 1. Neither chamber is going yet.
