There was a short period when it was OK for Change UK to be a bit haphazard. It has long since ended. This kind of stuff just seems amateurish and petty. They need strong comms advice and if they’re already getting it then they need to sack whoever is giving it.
The debacle with logo and name was beyond amateurish. It was a confusing distraction. They need to convince people they aren’t just a few MPs with a hobby. Professionalism isn’t the same as ‘slick’ if that’s what they’re worried about. Perhaps no leader makes it more difficult
I like the idea of Change UK and some of the individuals - and I don’t think they should rush into detailed policies. But they need to show there is a point to them being separate from the Lib Dems

Socialism = supporting paying tax to a state which spends it on public services 🤔
Socialism = capitalism + welfare state

I'm cool with this version of socialism but it's actually social democracy

This working group defined Assange’s time in the Ecuadorian embassy as ‘arbitrary detention’ so as far as they are concerned even if he did skip bail for the sexual assault arrest warrant he has been imprisoned for long enough. 1/3
Problem is UK courts have simply applied the ordinary rules to him - he skipped bail so he can go to prison. Having ordinary rules applied to you in an ordinary way is by definition not arbitrary - and courts will never agree with analysis that he was ‘arbitrarily detained’. 2/3
I would be pretty amazed if the European Court of Human Rights agreed with this pretty out there analysis either.

Though I also wonder why he is in a high security prison (Belmarsh) for a minor crime. Perhaps there for a bit and will be transferred to lower security? 3/3

i think you can generalize that point: the black struggle for democratic equality has, historically, been a key driver of larger political and social gains.
this is all apropos of a passage in Harry Haywood's 1948 volume "Negro Liberation," where Haywood—a black leader in the Communist Party of the USA—makes an impassioned case for the national liberation of black peoples in the Black Belt of the United States.
