I did a deep dive, over a year ago, to find a connection between George Papadopolous and the Greek dictator of the same name and I came up empty.
PapaD's father, Dr Antonios Papadopolous, is originally from Thessaloniki in Northern Greece.
Thessaloniki is part of Greek Macedonia. As you may know there was a country called Macedonia.

It's gets confusing here. At the risk of oversimplifying: there are many Greeks who believe Macedonia is inseparable from Greek culture and did not consider "Macedonia" legitimate.
One such organization is the Pan-Macedonian Association. Dr Antonios Papadopolous is a long time member and past president of the Association.
Within the last year, the name of the country, 'Macedonia,' has changed to 'North Macedonia.'

The dictator, George Papadopolous, was born in the Peloponnese region of Greece, a long way from the Macedonian region.

During the campaign, PapaD made more than once visit to Greece. He even gave interviews.

I can't find one Greek source linking him to the dictator. Surely at least one Greek reporter was curious enough to check his family history to see if he was related.
Now, there was one tweet by PapaD claiming his family spent time 'rebuilding' Congo. It's since been deleted and I don't have the screenshot.

There was a lot of CIA activities in the Congo, so that's intriguing.
However, I would be cautious about linking PapaD and the dictator of the same name until we have more proof.
