In the opening chapter of my.. ah hem...2006...book Licensed to Kill, I point out Prince's love for GM's Alfred Sloan and his desire for "Verticalize" the private military/contracting sector. OK, so it only took 12 years for the media to figure this out... but I am ok with that.
The problem is Prince allegedly did not disclose his beneficiary relationship or ownership in subcontractors to his clients like Reflex Response or to partners/employers like FSG. That's not Sloan's idea of "verticalization" that's called "grifting".
The idea was to "own" every part of the manufacturing process much like how Edgar Prince evolved from making injection moulding machines to supplying auto parts to helping to design and supply entire car interiors at a lower cost and higher profit.
Prince even buried his own aircraft and subvendors inside his $3.5 billion dollar proposal for Afghanistan to Donald Trump. Trump's' method of giving his vendor's haircuts by non payment or partials might actually be a more honest way to screw partners.
So much to unpack in Cole's high fiber story on Prince in @theintercept. What shines through is that Prince has an unshakeable trajectory, ending up back under criminal investigation and causing significant damage to U.S. image and foreign policy, again. theintercept.com/2019/05/03/eri…
