Thread on the anniversary of the Andijon massacre in Uzbekistan
I spent over a decade writing about the Andijon massacre and documenting what Uzbeks had written. Some of my work:

Since the death of Islam Karimov in 2016, there have been incremental positive changes in Uzbekistan. Some Uzbeks in exile were able to go home for the first time since the massacre. There is still a very long way to go, and being honest about the tragedy of Andijan is necessary.
