Back in the 1970’s, my mom picked up a “barrister desk” (like the pic) and a dresser off the street.

Dresser had a thick lacquer on it. Couldn’t see the wood. Desk needed love. So she had them both restored.

Turns out the dresser is solid ebony and the desk is 100+ years old.
Okay, I remembered quite wrong on the dresser. Not ebony. Mahogany maybe?

It’s heavy. I’ll tell ya that.
My mom is so tickled by the Antique Roadshow answers I’m getting on Twitter, she has me checking out other things she randomly acquired.

Anybody have insights into this one?

Appears to be oak. Curved glass.

Her only info is that it “wasn’t cheap 20 years ago.
