I am speaking with our StratPack this week on thriving as an introvert in an extrovert world.

While I have some of my own tricks that work for me (thread); what do you do?

As an introvert, how do you make space for yourself?
As an extrovert, how do you make space for others?
1 / I have never liked talking for the sake of talking in a room. Sometimes it is not that you always need to be adding something new, but can be as simple as starting with, supporting, and building on the points of those around you.
2/ Sometimes the best way to be heard is not by finding a way to speak in the meeting (especially internally) but writing some thinking beforehand to help frame the discussion. This helps give everyone a flare to organize around rather than finding a perfect time to bring it up.
3/ Holding the marker: similar to the above, even if you are transcribing to start it puts you in a position to help guide (e.g "This is particularly interesting, let's start here") without having to immediately speak up.
4/ Understand the moments that you need to be "on" and you don't. Sometimes for big presentations I'll have a specific outfit or persona I try to embody (think: Sasha Fierce) to pump myself up to take up that needed space in the room.
5/ To the above on presentations, I also particularly like @KamalaHarris's POV on Public Speaking recently, which can help to calm the nerves (if you get them) nowthisnews.com/videos/politic…
6/ Last but not least, in client meetings I ALWAYS take notes with pen and paper. This is a good way to show that I am engaged even if not immediately speaking, oftentimes I will refer to a quote or something that they said to spark conversation.
