(1) Just 10 days until the start of the 2019 hurricane season, folks!

Here's why I've had the name Hurricane Watcher since August 2017.

(2) I became interested in hurricanes after Katrina in 2005. Then when Harvey hit, I was fascinated by the prepping, warning, response, and recovery. Lots of public policy issues.

(3) The Dem mayor of Houston refused to order a mass evacuation, claiming there wasn't time to do it in 2 days.

But I had seen the forecast 4 days beforehand. Granted, Harvey did form & change quickly, but local mayors should know the risk of that & act on it. In NOLA they do.

(4) This scoundrel of a Democrat mayor lied, so as to blame FEMA & conservatives.

Just like they did in 2005. They are still blaming GWB for allegedly doing the opposite of what he did. I've written threads about that here.

(5) And people still don't get that YOU are your first responder... then your local govt, then state, THEN federal.

Don't blame the feds for you having no food or water for 7 days. Idiots.

Also:

(6) As it happens, FEMA does send in plenty of supplies, staged just outside the zone, to come in asap after the storm.

Every time there is a hurricane, certain Democrats do what they did in Houston in August 2017.

(7) They send the opposite of the right safety message to the public, which results in the preventable loss of life.

It's an outrage.

(8) All I can do is promote hurricane safety messages online. You can volunteer with a local group. FEMA.gov has links to them.
