In Luke 16, Jesus crosses the line. Let Him preach all day long about hell but He can mind His own business about money. The thing is, He thinks it IS His business. “Remember that the Lord your God gives you the power to gain wealth.”(Deut.8:18) Stay with this. Good news ahead.->
Luke 16:11 Jesus says “If you have not been faithful with worldly wealth, who will trust you with what is genuine?” The patables are about honesty & generosity & how our faithfulness now impacts what God will entrust to us later. It’s about money being a servant, not a master.->
It’s about God’s attentiveness to how we deal with money. Y’all still with me? We don’t want Him to talk about this, do we? But let me tell you something I have learned about Him along the way. He fashioned the human soul to flourish in His will. Generosity makes us happy.
He wrapped up our best life now in 8 words: “It is better to give than to receive.” Without exaggeration the single most important principle God has taught me about obedience is to ask Him to make His desires mine. “Lord, make this what I WANT to do. Not just what I need to do!”
“Lord, make me LOVE to give! Cause me to flourish in generosity! Make it one of my favorite things on earth to do.” This is the heart of Ps.40:8-> “I delight to do Your will, O my God. Your law is within my heart.” Try praying it every day for 1 little week & watch what happens.
Be bold. Pray to find glee in giving. Joy in generosity. Nothing makes us more miserable than selfishness. The world relentlessly reverses the teaching: “It’s better to receive than give!” it claims. It lies. It’ll never make us happy.

We were created in the image of the Giver.
PS. Regarding “patables” in p.2 of the thread: Perhaps you are unaware that it is an alternative spelling for parables. Some theologians believe it to be the more literal rendering of the Greek. Pastor Siri is among them.
