And this is the key difference btw Frenchian “conservatives” and the so-called Trumpian Right. The former not only lacks a winning electoral strategy post-Trump, they also have utterly failed to develop any legitimate policy alternative to a Trump GOP...
I’ve asked NeverTrumpers repeatedly for an alternative to Trump’s immigration, trade, and economic policies: They have none. It’s not just that they lack a viable option, they don’t understand the basics or grasp the grassroots desperation to address these long-neglected matters.
Any candidate they suggest as a challenger to Trump is to the Left of Trump. And a known-coddler of the Left. And hostile to the values of the new Trump Right. Who would David French choose to run against Trump? Better yet, who does he envision could succeed Trump?
Let’s not forget that French has chosen the wrong side in one of the most defining political battles in recent history: The abuse of power, corruption, and law-breaking by the Obama DOJ. French went after Nunes but has no criticism of say, Jim Comey or Adam Schiff or John Brennan
French has intentionally misled his readers about the dossier, Christopher Steele, the Trump Tower meeting. I don’t think he’s yet addressed how Fusion GPS seeded the fake dossier in the news media, or written one defense of Carter Page. Why? He doesn’t want the fight.
If you stand for values and constitutional safeguards and limited government and individual freedom and fairness and decency—but you’re not outraged at Russiagate—or worse, you defend the perps who conceived and executed the sham, there’s nothing “conservative” about you.
No matter how many heartbill bills you want to take credit for.
