“While free speech is a right & value vehemently protected by this government, hate speech is out of this realm...” announces the @WOUnews student body gov in reaction to College Republicans event tonight. Asian-American conservative Joey Gibson is speaking. Protests planned. 
At an art mural at Western Ore University, “187-PIGS” has been spray painted in red along with antifa symbols. “187” is slang for murder.
Protesters gather nearby to voice their opposition to “hate speech” and “fascism.”
Protests against College Republicans have moved inside. One of the people from the protest side was using her phone to take photos of each person coming in.
It’s a packed house for Joey Gibson College Republicans event. I wonder how much of this is a result of the admin and student government freaking out about the event and sending out all those emails.
Western Ore University public safety officers had to stand guard at the College Republicans event. Protesters put up large signs calling attendees "Nazis." Though the doors were closed, you could hear them through the glass. One man kept screeching in a heavy metal voice.
"What about the women in America that are being raped? One in four."
Before the event, the College Republicans speaker asked the protesters for examples of him engaging in “hate speech.” They sing a children’s song in response. pscp.tv/w/b8bxkDF3QkVB…
Throughout event, some protesters tried to hold door open so their noises would drown out the speaker. They were stopped by campus security & others. At one point, a fight almost broke out when the door was forcibly closed. When I went outside to record, they tried to stop me.
After being unable to shut down the event, anti-College Republicans protesters created a "walk of shame" for attendees leaving the event when it was over. They were called "Nazis" & "fascists." @WOUnews
