/ Here's another egregious deception by Mueller in order to make Trump look bad. Mueller stated that "the President had discussed 'knocking out Mueller'... in a May 23, 2017 telephone call with McGahn". Sounds very sinister and Nixonian.
/ Mueller's sentence either implies or states that the words "knocking out Mueller" were used by Trump. They weren't. Mueller is so dishonest.
/ Here's what happened. On May 23, Trump complained to McGahn about Mueller conflict of issues, which, if valid, are legitimate concern. McGahn urged Trump not to pursue for the pragmatic reason that recusing Mueller ("knocking out Mueller") would be used to claim obstruction
/ I.e. Trump wasn't discussing how to "knock out" Mueller as portrayed in Mueller Report summary. Trump was complaining about Mueller conflicts of interest, with McGahn discouraging complaint for pragmatic, not legal, reasons.
/ in fact, Mueller ought to have recused himself from obstruction investigation due to his personal relationship with Comey under 28 CFR 45.2. Mueller should have recused himself from obstruction case or been disqualified by DOJ ethics. McGahn should have got involved.
/ if Mueller's conflict of interest in obstruction case was disqualifying (as it almost certainly was), how can it be "obstruction of justice" to request the recusal which DOJ regulations require? Isnt it Mueller's violation of DOJ regulation that obstructs justice?
