The elite media continues its quest to pressure tech companies into more stringently regulating speech, in the name of combating “extremism” and “hate” -- whatever that means nytimes.com/interactive/20…
Obviously young people falling into YouTube sinkholes and developing wacky beliefs is a real phenomenon. But the solution is to create better YouTube content, and advance better arguments. Not purge channels/videos you dislike under the guise of “safety”
It’s also disturbing, as a general matter, how many young people apparently form a political identity entirely by watching YouTube videos. They don’t read. They just watch stuff. That’s never going to be conducive to deep thinking, learning, and/or reasoning
I think elite media is trying to create a moral panic around the existence of "vulnerable young men" -- who have always existed, always will exist, and always will be the demographic most susceptible to "radicalization." Only difference now is they're consuming lots of YouTube
