Did you know? Non-Americans are legally permitted to contribute "things of value" to US political campaigns, so long as those things are contributed on a volunteer basis. Hence "volunteering" information would not necessarily be a crime, despite widespread screeching otherwise
A non-American may volunteer to canvass or phonebank for a presidential campaign. Even though those canvassing/phonebanking hours are theoretically "things of value," they are legally permitted. But now I guess we're going to have a hysterical push for criminalization
Blackburn was justified in blocking this knee-jerk bill on the ground that it is "overbroad." We don't have good definitions of what constitutes "foreign assistance" or even an "offer." Could easily end up penalizing otherwise legal, innocuous activity
