Pres Ramaphosa’s office says he is “disappointed” by Public Protector’s refusal of his request to cross-examine DA leader Mmusi Maimane before he responds to Bosasa findings made against him – as Presidency believes it was Maimane who misled Parliament over the saga, not CR 1/3
Presidency maintains that Maimane’s “conduct on the day in Parliament” when he first questioned Ramaphosa about money paid by Bosasa to an account linked to his son Andile is “relevant to any fair assessment of the President's response” to findings made against him by PP 2/3.
Maimane in turn says the issues Presidency wanted him to be questioned about are “irrelevant” to his complaint that Ramaphosa misled Parliament, accuses him of using “Zuma-style tactics by delaying justice and making demands that are not lawful” 3/3
Presidency says Maimane “caused confusion” by asking CR about Bosasa, his son as follow up to a written question re VBS, suggest he was blindsided. Also say MM gave inaccurate info re Andile account, referred to affidavit by Bosasa auditor that “was not verified or factual”.
