This article is extremely worrying! Why would Dem politicians have to be afraid of Pelosi for demanding an impeachment inquiry be opened? Why do we have to beg politicians to do their job to expose/slow down a lawless authoritarian regime not operating in America’s interests?
Do people realize that all the bills the House is passing is dead on arrival in Senate thanks to McConnell? Why not focus on fighting to save our institutions that trump has hijacked and exposing all crimes committed by both the Trump regime/ republicans who are covering for him

Bottom line is Trump is committing crimes and most in the open and no one is stopping him. This is not about politics but upholding the rule of law and showing the world we are fighting back on the basic principles our country was founded. Not this dark lawless far right country

PELOSI questions whether an impeachment inquiry would strengthen Dems' hands in court.

"Is that true? That’s a question to be asked. If you open an impeachment inquiry, do you get more information? You still end up in the court."

A note on #impeachment -

In a court of law, under non-presidential circumstances, impeachment is a tool litigation attorneys use to discredit the opposing side's witnesses at trial. When said witness takes the stand under oath attys. present evidence contrary to what the witness
claims. This weakens the other side's case by discrediting impeached witnesses's testimony. Once a witness has been impeached - by presentment of inconsistent testimony - the judge/jury can no longer use the impeached witnesses's testimony in reaching a verdict.
Simply put, they aren't trustworthy. In the case of Presidential impeachment that broad definition of impeachment applies, but the impeachment tool is used for a very different purpose. Under the Constitution, a sitting President cannot be tried in a court of law for anything.
