In Ghana there are religious gangs that are quasi-sanctioned by the state that hunt down and murder LGBT people. And they do so in horrendous ways. Ghanaian asylum seekers routinely make their way from brazil where they can get a visa to fly to our southern border
They can’t get asylum in countries they transit through, so they walk for much of the journey and endure insane hardships because we have held ourselves out as the refuge for oppressed people. Because they want to live free of the fear they will be killed for who they are.

And to be clear, they fly to Brazil, not Mexico. Then they walk for hundreds and hundreds of miles. Sometimes they get rides or can use buses, but it takes months to get to the US border.
