As for Hungary, a CJEU hearing in the Commission's infringement action against Hungary for booting out the Central European University is also due on Monday 24th. That's some serious closing-stable-door-after-horse-has-bolted action.

Here's the official count: 19% of electors (well above the 10% required) signed the recall petition. Confirms hypothesis that the numbers willing to sign a recall petition correlates to the size of the majority at the last election.
North Antrim: 42% majority, 9.4% sign recall petition

Peterborough: 1.3% majority, 27.6% sign petition

Brecon and Radnorshire: 19.5% majority, 19% sign petition

Makes sense that the more people voted against the MP in the last election, the more will sign petition
Here's the results of the Brecon and Radnorshire votes since 1970. Several marginal results. I am told a chunk of Labour voters were moved out when the constituency boundaries were redrawn in 1983.

Presumably Hoey blocked me because on the weekend I pointed out that she had tweeted out a doctored or outdated screenshot of an EU Commission press release on UK govt State aid for Channel 4. She then deleted her tweet without explanation or apology...

Thread: can 'Article 50' (i.e. proper start of Brexit) be revoked? Means UK would not leave EU. Background: it started with a legal challenge in UK and taken to the European Court of Justice (EU's highest court). Today we got a 'sneak peek' (saying yes it can be revoked). /1
That 'sneak peek' is the Advocate Generals' opinion: the ECJ has a process in which the AG gives an opinion and then the full court judgment follows. Rule of thumb is the court outcome follows the AG's outcome (but not always and sometimes by different paths). Complicated. /2

And here it is.

AG considers it is open to the U.K. to unilaterally revoke #Art50 under certain conditions.

If the Court follows this Opinion, the path will have been cleared for MPs to decide the damage being inflicted on our country should stop - in the national interest.

AG makes light work of the UK Govt argument that this question of #Art50 revocation was purely hypothetical and therefore that the Court should not rule on it.

Irish High Court was asked by Polish Gov to extradite Mr Celmer under EU law for trial on drug charges. Irish judge ruled Poland’s Gov has seriously undermined rule of law by taking political control over judges (agreeing with Euro Commission) 2/
So Irish Court asked Court of Justice of EU to rule on # approach Irish Court should take. AG opinion is advice to CJEU on how CJEU should rule. Mostly CJEU takes that advice, but not always. 3/
