In an official White House statement denying E. Jean Carroll's claim that Donald Trump raped her, the president says "I've never met this person in my life."

Just to save some of y'all the trouble, "I have no recollection of meeting this person" is an unfalsifiable statement. "I've never met this person in my life" is falsifiable. And when said person has already published a photo of the two of you together, it's a reckless lie.

The photo isn't proof he raped her. It is, however, proof that, when confronted with the accusation that he raped her, his first impulse was to respond with a stupid, easily refutable lie.

And just to make this really really really clear, since some of y'all are still confused: The photo above was published in New York Magazine this afternoon, accompanying the article in which Carroll alleged that Trump raped her.

When Trump emphatically, unequivocally denied that he had ever met Carroll, in other words, he was doing so in response to an account that included a photo of him in animated conversation with Carroll and her husband.
