Some high level gossip is currently entertaining Turkey. Controlled MSM won’t touch it, for reasons that will be obvious. It was widely discussed in social media before one of the protagonists obtained a court order to ban any mention of it on sites like eksisozluk.com.
As told to me: the son-in-law of Pres. Erdogan, Berat Albayrak, who happens to be Turkey’s Minister of Finance and Treasury, was photographed on a boat outing, in the company of a woman not his wife. She was Özge Ulusoy, a somewhat notorious photo model, abt whom more later.
When the photos appeared in social media, Berat’s wife, Esra (Erdogan's daughter), confronted him. Berat beat her. Soon thereafter, some ‘sturdy’ types appeared at the Albayrak home and beat Berat so badly that he had to go into seclusion to allow facial injuries to heal.
The Albayraks are making an effort to project a ‘happy family’ image, putting out smiling family photos. Likewise, Özge is putting out photos and saying her family know she'd never do wrong. No reference is made to “the story,” but everyone in Turkey knows what’s being addressed.
The weakness in Özge’s claims of innocence lies in a previous episode, also much discussed in Turkish social media at the time. She was “in a relationship” with the late Hacı Sabancı, a second generation member of the powerful Sabancı family.
That relationship ended when Hacı discovered, on Özge's mobile phone, text messages to her mother detailing her schemes to capture Hacı's wealth. He sent her packing and, after she issued denials, published the text messages on social media.
Assuming the Berat/Esra story is substantially true, the question is what impact, if any, it may have on Berat’s standing with his father-in-law, and in the government.
It is not unheard of for Turkish husbands to beat their wives. IDK what Erdogan’s attitude might be to his daughter being beaten by her husband. The beating of Berat, of course, may be Erdogan’s response, and that may be an end to it. End.
