Contrast with modern extremist Christians who can only cope with Christ being preached by THEIR preapproved, male, straight, denominational preachers.

Interesting note: Paul had a friend with him, who was very ill to deaths door, and was not miraculously healed.
We can be tempted to focus on the miraculous healings that appeared to happen through Peter, for example, and feel guilty if we are ill or unable to 'heal' others

But Paul is here with a friend that is deathly ill, and they eventually got better by natural causes, and Paul is thankful for their survival. But no reference to attempts to heal them with miraculous or spiritual healing.
