The_Donald just got shitcanned by reddit.

A community of 750,000 (actually more, if you pay attention to the traffic stats shown to advertisers). They were loud, they were hyperbolic, and I didn't like everything in there that trended, but it was a good community of honest folk.
On the eve of the democratic debates, and the subreddit where the @Project_Veritas videos were getting the most traction on all of reddit.
This is not the first time that Reddit's maligned and suppressed The_Donald. They changed their site algorithms to hide The_Donald due to its absurd level of user activity.
This is the Tech Trust striking again.

Grab your umbrellas folks. Shit's hit the fan.

What do you get when you hijack higher education to farm an entire new generation of socialists?

A whole bunch of dumbass socialists who fail to realize that openly waving the socialist flag is a horrific fucking idea because no one actually likes socialism.
This is a classic example of not attributing to malice what can easily be attributed to idiocy.

What do AOC with her barista degree, her CoS with him openly bragging about their plans, and the journalist who thinks this puff piece is a good idea all have in common?
None of them have experienced socialism, but they were each taught socialism through a usurped higher education without ever actually learning how to implement it. The ‘how’ was strictly for the party, the old guard, the future politburo to decide.

The fact that the Tech Trusts are silencing and censoring as much of @Project_Veritas and @JamesOKeefeIII 's work on them as possible rather than trying to release evidence to disprove the reporting says everything about the accuracy of said reporting. There's more out there.
Google would not be able to do what it does without the implicit cooperation of other members of the Silicon Valley Tech Trust. Period. The internet is so interconnected, these platforms all feed into each other so much, so many cooperation agreements have been made...
... that an attack on one is an attack on all of them. All of these interwoven agreements on data sharing, interconnectivity, cross-platform applications, etc are the superstructure that hold this Tech Trust together. A Sherman antitrust lawsuit would by necessity hit them all.

There are three elements to an effective deterrent counterattack, ie a counterstroke that’s meant to deter/disincentivize future aggression.

1) They must be proportionately more expensive for your opponent to suffer than for you to inflict. IE, they must be cost effective.
2) They must focus their scope on disabling your opponents ability to carry out similar provocative actions. Striking at naval targets if they were attacking tankers, striking SAM sites targeting drones in international waters, airfields launching chemical attacks, etc
3) They must demonstrate unmatched military capability and intelligence. They have to demonstrate that not only do you know exactly how to hurt your opponents in a way that hurts but you can do so at a whim.

Such as by authorizing missile strikes during desert w/ the Chinese PM.

It’s possible

But the feedback I get from people is the internet has become a swamp of sorts, it’s drowning in low quality info

Offering people “Dry land” of truly excellent content is welcome and needed

Who can tell what was done here?
What was done is, the photoshopper took his own image from the hips up and superimposed it over the actual person who was on stage that night.
Look at the thickness of the fingers on the right hand and compare them to the left hand.

Also note the very big, prominently displayed Texas Aggies gold ring.

Here's what I think of as the dear #American journalists thread 2.0. It concerns Facebook and #lka, hate speech detection, and language complexities of the Global South, where @LIRNEasia (the think tank I work at) operates.
It seems a perfectly natural reaction, given the phenomenal amount of hate speech, to urge @facebook and @twitter to get their shit together and take it off the platform. Post March 2018, we - as in Sri Lankan civil society - tried.
In fact, one of the longest running arguments @sanjanah, @NalakaG and myself have had with the @facebook India team is that they consistently fail to live up to their own damn Community Standards, and only seem to pay attention as long as the @nytimes or @WIRED is slamming them.

I've been back from Ukraine a week now and I feel it is time to have what, for some, will be a very uncomfortable conversation: racism in Ukraine and the challenges of being black there. Here we go....
I also want to talk about how hard it is to be a black person who loves Ukraine but is often confronted by Ukrainians who I feel like my activism for Ukraine but do not want to hear about the challenges I face there as a black person.
So, in the Western Ukrainian city of Yaremche, I was walking down the main avenue when a man drove by and spit at me as he threw up the Heil Hitler salute. He yelled something at me but I didn't understand. This happened on my first day in the city.

I think I figured out why arguments like "an engineers should be on-call" or "all engineers should be deeply involved with production/ops" bother me.

It's not that I disagree, but it sometimes implies an untenable expansion of what a person's job is.
Good version: when your branch is merged, you're expected to be available for 60 minutes afterwards if errors crop up in production. No clicking Merge at 5:30pm on Friday and hopping in a car to go camping.

You were expected to write a feature. This is part of it.
Another good version: put devs on call because the site has reliability issues, and it's suspected that not enough people know where to look for low-hanging fruit. Getting more eyes on the problem helps.

You were expected to build and maintain a service. This is part of it.
