Talked to a girl working in a company and she spoke of the "peer pressure" to drink. "Liberalism" makes predator work easy, and has adverse health affects, particularly for women. Girls who refuse are mocked as "Sati-Savitris." My article:

True. This “wannabe cool” around alcohol and forcing others to drink seems more common in the urban Indian crowd. Especially girls forcing other girls to drink.

Harmful for both, but not equally. Read the research cited in the article, it is worse for women, due to higher body fat. Can also interfere in conception, lead to some diseases.

Very modern. Shouldn't we celebrate this progressive mom?

When you are a young twenty-something, new at work, wanting to make friends, peer pressure does matter.

Such an intelligent "right-winger" too. No idea of the research, doesn't read the article, but has predetermined how bs the logic is. 😏 Unfortunately, very typical. Pre-determined biases trump any possibility of knowledge.

Usually I handle it without making much fuss about. Just order a lemonade or a ginger beer to keep them company.

In the awareness of menstruation and menstrual hygiene, while people are recognising the importance of low-cost options, most are still unaware of the environmental costs of plastic-based napkins. We are piling up landfills, while continuing the adverse health affects. 1/n
Sanitary options in India have come a long way, and we are still not at the ideal place.
1. Women have been using cloth since the beginning; old sarees, dhotis & bedsheets were cleaned and kept aside
a For some, these were disposable
b For others, these were resuable 2/n
1a Those who preferred disposable needed a continuous supply of cloth, not always practical.
1b Those reusing had to clean the used cloth right. Shame and taboo made women dry such cloth away from the public eye, away from sun and air, lending those unhealthy. 3/n
