Good thread from @hhesterm about being realistic and honest about trade.

Worth going on to look at some data from @mac_puck in the responses about what the 10 (semi) rollovers really mean in terms of proportion of trade.
One of the problems is that what was possible was grossly oversold by Fox and Co, thus disguising real achievements by the DiT negotiating in difficult circumstances.

Now what has been delivered is also being oversold (as @hhesterm explains) and that is unhelpful to businesses.

In the wake of yesterday's "Broadway Demons" thread, I realized my library has a Fold3 subscription, and I thought, let me look up the real Michael Keleshian and give him his due. This will be a short #thread about what I found-not much, but again, I want to give the man his due.
Michael Keleshian-- "Mike Kelley" in Father Duffy's memoir-- was born in Istanbul, circa 1893. At some point I have yet to work out, he came to the US with his family, either after the Hamidian Massacres of 1895, or at the beginning of the Armenian Genocide of 1915.
He had a brother, Constantin, and his records say he lived in lower Manhattan, at 317 East 26th Street. And on 17 August 1917, Michael Keleshian enlisted at the 69th Regiment Armory at 68 Lexington Avenue, a stone's throw from his home.
