Why at 4:30a am I in a Lyft to BWI airport, fleeing the Baltimore humidity on #July4 for the greater heat of El Paso?

Full statement is attached. Basically, #CitizenPresence is the reason. Making sure moral outrages of the camps are before our consciousness. Follow my day here.
If they make a movie Davening [praying] in Airports I'll be in line. White privilege: no one looks at me. Today is #July4& also #RoshChodesh, the start of a new month.

I say Hallel, the collection of Psalms celebrating special days. "You freed my bonds." "I called from depths."
And a specially long psalm to end the prayers of the day, mentioning the blessing of food. "Bread satisfies people's hearts." Wine, oil and bread. The basics migrants look for. What our cruel government denies them in the camps.

New month, new possibilities for change, Exoduses.
Certain passengers have been called at the gate for passport verification. Seems Trumpy.
The text in the statement in the OP was unclear, so to clarify - I don't have any magic means of getting access to the concentration camps. Like many others with #CitizenPresence, I'm going to stand at doors, fences, and gates, pray, sing, glower, and bear witness.
At this point, the plan is to observe medical visits at the Casa del Migrante in Juarez; attend the vigil in Clint (hopefully I'll read/say something there if there's room on the stack); maybe go to another ICE facility; definitely read poetry out loud.
A #poem in the Atlanta airport.
@AHouseElPaso I'm a spanish-speaking internist (not pediatrician) coming to El Paso today, if there's any way I could help is there someone I can contact?

@AHouseElPaso We need to consider people on #Bothsides.

Both sides of the border.

Trump is making them all suffer.
@AHouseElPaso Can anyone who’s been here before and sat outside Clint did you get asked to move off the property or told it was illegal to be there? We want to be prepared tonight to gather in a place that we’re not going to be hassled by border patrol police. Anyone know?
@AHouseElPaso People on the ground with #CitizenPresence in #ElPaso have been turned away from the El Paso Processing Center, saying they have no right to be on Federal property. Practically speaking, I suppose if armed thugs tell one to leave, one has to leave.
@AHouseElPaso I wish I had planned to get arrested but I can't do that. #CitizenPresence
@AHouseElPaso Free ALL THE CAGED PEOPLE. ALL THE CAGED KIDS. In #ElPaso, the border, and #Baltimore.

@AHouseElPaso One thing definitely on the agenda is a vigil in Clint, the site of one of the child #concentrationcamps, tonight at 7. Vigil in Hebrew is "shmirah," which means "watching" or "guarding." (Like the Latin/English.) Just watching. Just keeping eyes on the thugs and thinking of kids

OH on the plane from a flight attendant: Why is this flight overbooked?! Never seen it so busy. Is something going on in Texas??
In a car with three impressive activists, women of course, on the way to Juarez #CitizenPresence
We visited the Centro del Migrante in Juarez. Lots to tell. Will write more later.
The community in Juarez is seeing more and more migrants. Trump is dumping more and more migrants into MX. Shelters in El Paso seeing less and less
Off to the Vigil for Los Niños in Clint.

I hope to video.

#NoKidsInCages #citizenpresence
Kudos to whoever added the Google Maps description for our location
The Border Patrol truck is following us.
He is blocking the entrance to the facility.
Kids are here.

No hugs are allowed.

No baths.

No toys.
Cops are "checking in on us" to "make sure we are okay."
comfy at the motel, thanks @maryel1084 and all the great organizers who made this possible -- and future groups of #CitizenPresence activists as well (major kudos @HeidiLiFeldman and @ImmJusticeNOW. Fascists will lose.)

Here is some poetry from the vigil

I have so much to say about our trip. People who know say I should write an Op-Ed, but I'd like it all out there. what do you folks think?
What is the Fourth of July to the caged child?
In an anti-ICE thread it's relevant to mention that Johns Hopkins gets money from ICE to be complicit with them. I told a bunch of people about that this week, and they were shocked.

But a coalition of us met this week to figure out next steps.
A photo taken by #CitizenPresence colleague @jackietejada at the Honda Pass ICE camp in El Paso. She was asked why she was there.
I think the opening of my op-ed is this: the police asked how we protesters were, there on the dusty highway outside the ICE camp. But all day we had seen evidence of people our country wants to disappear without regard to their existence. Shut away in camps and deported.
I don't know if it's lack of sleep or what, but I'm thinking of Larkin's Aubade and I think I'm going to cry in the El Paso Airport. (I'm personally fine.)

I was so glad to see Opal and Abby from Baltimore who came to Clint under their own initiative. Opal was arrested in the raid on @TheGarlandSitIn and forcibly misgendered by Baltimore Police.
