I'm tired of talking to people more concerned about their own feelings than the implications of the massive power they are wielding. If you can't have a conversation unless everyone is being "nice" then no, I don't trust that you are gonna do the right thing when it gets hard.
You about to take somebody else's millions of dollars and create a huge company impacting potentially thousands of people who are often marginalized and depending on this. But Twitter stresses you out? Bro if you don't get the fuck outta here.
Folks got me out here subtweeting. That's how aggitated I am. but since I don't like doing that, I'm gonna share the context. Having a run in with the guy from Lambda School. I would ask you not to chime in on this thread.
I'm sad more than anything, because I have been a fan of Lambda School and what they're trying to do. I have shared their program many times and I even reached out to Austen asking if I can help in some way. And then this bullshit.
Let me be clear why I'm aggitated. It's not about my ego. These folks don't have to listen to me and truthfully I didn't offer anything constructive. The problem is spending your time getting mad at random Twitter people who haven't offered anything constructive.
He had a bunch of options. Saying nothing, asking me for clarification, offering more info info about what they're trying to do and how they're gonna address concerns. Instead this white dude decided to tell me how tired he is of getting critical feedback on Twitter.
If you claim to be out here trying to help people of color, you can't be tired already. And you definitely can't telling black people you're tired and thinking I'm supposed to care. Because that lets me know that you don't have the stamina for this work.
That lets me that you're gonna get tired again when it counts. That lets me know you still need people to defer to you too much. That lets me know you're still thinking about yourself when your main thoughts should be "how do I not fuck this up?"
