@wilfield71 @TheCyclingScot @SusanneLowe17 @JeremyVineOn5 Insurance payouts would be so minimal that 99.95% of the premium would go on admin - that's why insurers bundle cyclist 3rd cover for free in house contents cover - cos it costs them nowt. For reg numbers you'd need a bureaucracy the size of the DVLA - enormous cost, no benefit.

2/12 Cochrane has much to celebrate about its involvement. Cochrane’s healthcare consumers are an essential part of the organisation & were from the very beginning. Today there is an international group of consumers 1,500+ strong, represented in 80 countries around the world.
3/12 We know why consumers volunteer because they told us in 2015 in a survey. They are all united by an interest in evidence-based medicine, and a desire to be a part of creating Cochrane evidence. consumers.cochrane.org/ccnet-structur…

Both in the US and England, the balance of money and political power lies firmly with the (acute) provider sector at the expense of community orgs, public health, social services, and (perhaps to a slightly lesser extent) mental health and primary care. 2/
Yet, very little of what determines both individual and population health is due to the provider sector, instead, social determinants and unhealthy behaviours are much more important. #SDOH 3/

Our population is ageing, there are large differences in how long people live for based on income inequality and access to health.
Hospital is not always the best place to give care. It contributes to infection and loss of independence. We need much more care locally...
