A federal judge says the Justice Department violated a court rule limiting public comments about a public case when it published sections of the Mueller report dealing with one of the Russian troll farms that sought to sway the 2016 election.
The judge says "it is significant and prejudicial that the government itself drew a link between these defendants and the Russian government." And the Mueller report opined about the troll farm's guilt and the strength of the government's evidence.
The judge won't hold the government in contempt, though.
Judge Friedrich also won't sanction the government, but has ordered that DOJ be more careful.
