There was a time in this country, not that long ago, when in order for an ordinary member of the public to be given a national broadcast platform, they had to have achieved something extraordinary, be clearly equipped to do so or have an informed insight to offer.

That was a time when broadcasters took their responsibilities seriously. When informing, educating, and entertaining were qualitative measures of their key objectives rather than outrage and controversy delivered for clicks & ££.

First, where did Alberta’s Climate Leadership Plan plan come from? (George Soros, perhaps? Foreign-funded radicals?) No. It came from Albertans. A volunteer panel led by @andrew_leach spoke w 1K residents in-person and heard from 25K+ online. 2/24
The panel also engaged with 350+ stakeholders and met w Aboriginal Peoples in three cities, and received hundreds of detailed submissions from NGOs, industry groups and others. 3/24

Short thread.
1. I didn't realize how badly Trump has eviscerated access to federal #climate data, so I went and looked at the USGS site.
2. In December, there were 5,932 climate science items linked there (9 were just pictures). Today there are 416 and 292 are just pictures.
3. In December 2016, 320 of those items were links to #climate data. Today, 0 links to data. 5,271 were web links. Now, 0 web links.
