Dear friends: By the time you get this message, the attached video will have been released to YouTube, FB, Twitter, and email announcing that I'm ending my run for Congress. I have been doing some serious evaluating of my ability to continue and have determined something /1
very clearly: I would have made an incredible legislator, but I do not make a good politician. The physical and emotional toll this last 2 1/2 years has taken on me has been quite substantial. I also naively believed that we would have more momentum moving into 2020 after /2
doing so very well in such a very red district, but the opposite has proven to be true: Too many people believe that I'm a failure because I couldn't win, so they've taken their support--financial and volunteerism--and gone. While I know, putting some of the right people /3
and things in place, that we might be able to rebuild, I do not have the energy to begin again. I cannot thank you enough for all that you've done to further the causes of this campaign and of our community. Rest assured, I AM NOT DONE FIGHTING. As a matter of fact, I'm /4
already working with some LA Resistance groups to perhaps become the catalyst (without the constraints of the political bs) to bring their kind of activism to the 42nd and Riverside County. I hope you will stay tuned for that. I also hope that, just like the ten years it /5
took in San Diego and the OC, that you will not quit; that you will help me raise our voices and keep moving forward so we can eventually add our area to the list of places across this country that are no longer red. It took those other two counties almost ten years. /6
We're only in for about two so far... Thank you all again. Thank you.
