/ I recorded an episode w/@leemonbaird and @ManceHarmon that is scheduled to air on @HiddenForcesPod when the network goes public and @hashgraph begins releasing HBARS into the market. I've released part of that recording (nearly 2hrs worth) here, early. patreon.com/posts/early-ep…
/ The full conversation will include information that has not yet been made public and which will be released later, along with Open Access. Please read the episode description for context, as well as a comprehensive list of timecodes for our discussion.
/ My objective was to make this audio the go-to-source for investors, entrepreneurs, developers, & journalists looking to understand how @hashgraph's DLT works, why it's a revolution in permissionless database technology & distributed ledgers, and the opportunity it represents.
/ The full episode was initially meant to cover three main parts: the technology & economics (consensus mechanism, proxy staking, network fees, etc.), governance (new council members, open review vs. open source, supply schedule, regulatory approach, etc.), and use cases.
/ Despite having nearly 2hrs at our disposal, use cases fell by the wayside. I wanted to make sure that we locked down the technology part of this discussion so that listeners were left with no doubts about why @hashgraph is positioned to become the trust layer of the Internet.
/ We address many of the misconceptions about Hedera head-on, including a conversation about the release schedule and the transition to a permissionless database, the squeaky clean regulatory approach, the Coq proof of @hashgraph's protocol, database sharding, competition, etc.
/ The first 30min is an introduction by me meant to help guide listeners and provide a framework for understanding what is at stake with the public launch of @hashgraph and why it fulfills so many of the promises made by blockchain developers and thought leaders for years.
/ It's also important to remember that despite the obvious comparisons to blockchain, @hashgraph is not blockchain, nor is this a "crypto play." Hedera is meant to function as a second-layer to the Internet's communication protocols. This is much bigger than decentralized money.
/ Of course, HBARS will fulfill the purposes of decentralized money, but this is not meant to be their primary function, nor are they meant to displace bitcoin. Bitcoin isn't going anywhere. These are two totally different assets. Bitcoin is a Hedgehog. @hashgraph is a Fox.
/ It didn't take me long after reading the @hashgraph white paper and interviewing @leemonbaird for the first time in September 2017 to realize the implications of his discovery and the protocol he had built. I've spent the past two years researching this space and meeting...
/ ...with some of the smartest people I could find. I began by kicking the tires on competing protocols and later by studying applications and use cases for this technology. As an early investor I'm not impartial, but my bet on @hashgraph and its team is also a testament to...
/ …my conviction that it represents a revolution in decentralized trust comparable to that of the Internet layer protocols. In a world shaped by the exigencies of the ad-model pioneered by Google and later perfected by Facebook, @hashgraph offers us the opportunity to reset...
/ …the clock on what the Internet made possible. It rectifies some of the design deficiencies of protocols that were never built with security or commerce in mind. It is a revolution for a new generation...the Internet's "second act."
