11th Cir. holds that it was not a clearly established Fourth Amendment violation for a police officer chasing a suspect to accidentally shoot a ten year-old playing in her own yard.

Correction: the ten year-old was a boy, not a girl.
I can't get over this. He accidentally shot the kid while the kid was lying on the ground *eighteen inches* away.

That's not just an accident, that's fuggin' incompetence.

This is poorly reported. The proposed rule curtails asylum claims from aliens who enter (or seek to enter) via the southern land border—regardless if they are from Central America or not.

Many more applicants than just Central Americans transit through Mexico.
Although there has been a surge from Central America in the past few years, this rule sweeps more broadly than just addressing that surge—and reporters should be able to cover this very basic fact.

Why are journalists so bad at this?
And, btw, just as a practical matter I suspect that this rule probably puts certain applicants from non-CA countries who transit through Mexico in worse spot than some CA applicants.

(1) Piece equates a non-pros agreement (in which no charges are filed) with a deferred-pros agreement (in which charges are filed and jeopardy attaches).
(2) Treatment of dual sov doctrine. 2/3
Issues related to this non-pros agreement in particular:
(1) By its terms it binds only SDFL.
(2) Under McCarthy's reasoning the NPA immunizes Epstein for ALL crimes committed from around 2001 to Sep 2007, not just the "including [list of sex crimes]." 3/3

The manhunt against the woman who questioned army over the rape of the ten year old Pashtun girl continues. While a large contingent of police raided her house, the Chairman of Punjab Commission on The Status of Women was sacked for refusing to give a statement against her.
In an attempt to bring a semblance of modern governance to Balochistan, HR Council Balochistan clearly told Pakistan to stop abducting Baloch women and children and block all sorts of investigations. It also warned such acts are the real triggers for someone picking arms.
Parallel to this, another blatant violation of human rights surfaced - the brothers of one of the Baloch who attacked Gwadar Hotel are taken away by the army in revenge. It is understood that one of them is a school teacher and the other two are but children studying in school.

In today's criminal justice news, police in Harris County (TX) arrest a random black man for sport, because "a caller" claimed he was a totally different black man with a warrant in Louisiana

Because all black people look alike

And of course it was caught on video
Harris County (TX) Precinct 4 constable Garrett Lindley trespassed onto the private property of Clarence Evans III with a lie about a missing dog

Then demanded identification

Then, when told the man's name is Clarence, Lindley responds "No, you're Reg"

No indication the officers tried to confirm who lived at that particular address, whether they pulled anyone's driver's license or property tax records or anything else

They just saw a black guy with dreds and decided he was the one. Based on a "tip."
