1. A New Liberal Demon: "Metering"

This is stupidity run amok. @AOC and our execrable media have decided to create a new villain to hide their own complicity in creating the horror on the border, and to act all sanctimonious toward Trump administration.
2. First, let us all recognize that the situation at the border is a horror show. Too many migrants flooding our border, some genuine asylum seekers, most economic migrants, all desperate to get in, but we just don't have enough resources to process them all in a timely manner.
3, So what happens when there are too many people trying to get serviced and there are only a limited number of agents and/or seats to serve them at a concert, DMV, in a bank, at the INS office, at the Post Office. in a department store, oh for God's sake, even in Disney World?
4. We end up with ... oh, horror of horrors ... queues. Imagine that! Of course standing/waiting in a queue is unpleasant, and depending on the situation, can be excruciating, which is what's happening at the ports of entry at the border. But what's the alternative -- a stampede!
5. But if you use the word 'queuing at the border,' it doesn't quite make for sensational TV in Congressional hearings, does it? The sight of fire coming out of @AOC's nostrils when she says the word "queuing" wouldn't get her many twitter likes and retweets, would it?
6. So enter the word "Metering." Wonder how many consultants worked on that one. How many focus groups spent endless hours on registering their emotional reaction to that word? Folks, 'metering' is nothing but another word for crowd control through queuing.
7. Now queuing takes many forms. Sometimes you have rope lines, sometimes a ticket with a number on it, and sometimes there are officials who hold you back at a certain place until those ahead of you get serviced and agents are available to take on more.
8. It's the last mentioned mechanism that has been instituted at a port of entry at the border. And it's what @AOC and others are rending garments over by yelling "Metering." In a typical fashion, they demonize "metering" without saying what the heck is the alternative.
9. Yes, we have a problem. Demand exceeds supply. To handle the situation we need to add resources, and change laws to reduce demand. Current laws are an open invitation to abuse. Any hardship (spousal abuse, corruption, crime) can be declared as grounds for seeking asylum.
10. To be clear, all those hardships are horrendous and cruel. Unfortunately, there are still hellholes on earth where cruelty runs rampant. But asylum laws were created to handle only the extreme cases of ethnic cleansing, etc. They have been reinterpreted way too liberally.
11. While the spirit behind helping out anyone in distress anywhere in the world is noble, the reality is even the U.S., with all its resources, cannot help them all, without becoming a hellhole itself.
12. Laws must be changed. Sanity must be restored, or we will not have a country for long. And this practice of finding new words like "metering" to obfuscate issues and malign political opponents, without offering any responsible solutions and alternatives, must cease.
