A New Zealand performance turning cricket back 30 years - low totals, lots of singles when batting, and tight bowling and fielding. Looks like working at the moment, and if you beat India and England you deserve it #ICCWorldCup2019
England might still win but can't believe how certain commentators seem to be, lot of boundaries needed in a game so far featuring few #ICCCricketWorldCup

It is important to see a no-deal Brexit not as some conspiracy, but potentially the logical conclusion of UK politicians refusing to admit that not everything promised in a referendum was deliverable and compromises would be needed. Which in turn is a terrible future platform
We see the same refusal to confront reality repeated in discussion about a future US trade deal - "they'll have to adopt our food standards" - or most pertinently @BorderIrish - of course we can have no infrastructure even when every other border outside the EU has it
My reply to this sparked many replies agreeing or disagreeing, but you have to remember the context of 2017- the EU having to try to introduce the UK to negotiating reality. If we leave with no-deal that task will pass to the US. They won't be gentle

Rather than learning from the failures of the Theresa May's Brexit negotiation it seems that both candidates are intent on repeating them, only this time shouting rather than talking, as the joke about the English abroad goes.

Let's explain again (thread) all of those mistakes
Mistake 1 - setting no clear realistic outcome

We can all set our negotiating strategy as wanting everything we want, and nothing the other side wants. It doesn't work. And when the other side says no, and you don't have the granular detail of what you want, even less well 2/
Even outside the issues of the Irish backstop, the leadership candidates do not seem to know what relationship they want with the EU in the future beyond no-tariffs. Modern trade is complicated, what of services, regulations etc? 3/

New Zealand police are threatening 10 years in prison for possession of publicly shared media of the Christchurch attack. I don’t care about censorship by social media companies; worst they can do is remove one platform. Threats of violence by states...chilling.
2/ the threat by NZ police is confirmed. I believe this prosecution is accurate but haven’t personally confirmed it.
3/ apparently NZ has a “chief censor.” Straight out of Orwell’s 1984. At least they’re not using newspeak and calling it “chief speech advocate.”

#Breaking - Some defense sources report #Indian air strikes across the Line of Control in Muzafarabad, #Pakistan. Indian air force briefing expected later today. Pakistan said Indian jets dropped their payloads & "fled". More confirmation of details needed.
There are also reports of dual, air and ground Indian strikes in Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir. No official word yet. Waiting for updates. Stay tuned.
There are also reports that 2 Pakistani JF-17s fighter jets have been shot down.

The Indian Cricket team has embarked on its 18th "test" tour of England this summer and will play in a 5 test series in Aug/Sep

The first tour was in 1932 and the last was in 2014

In the intervening decades India has played 57 tests in Eng, winning 6, losing 30 and drawing 21!
What's remarkable there is the figure of 57. It is a massive figure given that India has only played in 522 tests in its entire history. So well over 10% of our test matches have been played in England against England.
During this period England has toured India 15 times for a test series. On home soil we have hosted England in 60 tests, winning 19, losing 13 and drawing 28.

So not surprisingly a distinctly better home record.
