Trial next week, a gang stealing ATMs by ripping out of walls and placing on to flat-bed trucks.
Serious work you might think? Worthy of senior counsel, albeit not silk.

Around 8500 pages of evidence
Brief fee £550 (to include first day of trial)
Refresher £300/day
Daily travel to court out of town, which won’t be paid, back £65.

And yet I’m considering it. Work is work and when all cases are poorly paid, why not take serious work. The alternative is £0 and no work.

Entire trial prep for £250 is, effectively, pro bono? Not even going to work out an hourly rate as that would prove too depressing.
Question is do I want to work 24/7 from now till Monday, blow away the weekend, & for £250?
4/5
Serious, demanding, challenging.
I didn’t come into it to do it effectively, pro bono.
Am I a #fatcat? Should I take the brief?
