1. Today, Boris Johnson will handwrite 4 letters known as The Letters of Last Resort. They contain instructions to the captains of the UK's nuclear submarines for what to do in the event that London is destroyed by a nuclear attack. What should he write? podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/pow…
2. The letters are entirely secret. They are stored inside a safe on the Trident submarines. They are never opened, unless London and the UK government are wiped out. When a new prime minister takes office, the old letters are destroyed, so nobody really knows what was written.
3. The PM has effectively a binary choice: retaliate with nuclear weapons...or don't. On the one hand, deterrence requires credibility, so you have to be prepared to retaliate. But actually doing so could escalate to nuclear apocalypse, wiping out our species. That's the paradox.

Today is the 156th anniversary of Pickett’s Charge at Gettysburg, in which the Union Army crushed the Confederate advance. The Confederates faced over 50% casualties and never really recovered. July 4th is Independence Day, but we should also remember that crucial July 3rd.
The star of July 2nd, by the way, was Col. Joshua Chamberlain—formerly a liberal arts college professor at Bowdoin College in Maine. He led a desperate bayonet charge down Little Round Top to stop the Union line from breaking.
The other star of July 2, 1863, the 2nd day of Gettysburg, was the 1st Minnesota regiment. They played a pivotal role, but suffered a catastrophic 82% casualties—the highest casualty rate of any fighting unit in US history. 262 men at the start, all but 47 were killed or wounded.

1. I study authoritarianism—and also how it functions in places that aren’t always in headlines. What many don’t realize is that Trump’s embrace of dictators will likely have a cascading effect. Other autocrats will think: well, if Putin or Kim can get away with it, why not me?
2. Most dictators and despots are driven by a desire to retain power. What can topple them? Well, opposition leaders, dissidents, journalists, and human rights campaigners who try to expose abuses and corruption can destabilize a regime. That’s why dictators kill or jail them.
3. In other words, the rational behavior for a dictator or despot is often to silence critics, rule by fear, and generally be a monstrous tyrant. What has held many back is 1) International norms; and 2) The risk of consequences from foreign powers (almost always in the West).

NYT: When his father was 85, Trump tried to change his father's will to benefit himself. His father was alarmed, wouldn't consent, stripped Trump of sole control over his estate.

those are all troll factory/internet research agency accounts.
so pull the accounts that follow them.
you get all these shady looking accounts with the same stats.
drop the false positives, drop the duplicates. you get about 180 accounts worth looking at.
