John Minford, #SunTzu 7:35 "He confronts chaos with discipline."
I almost didn't quote it here, but you need verse 36 to finish out verse 35.

"He treats tumult with calm. This is the Mastery of Mind."
We will definitely work through tumult, calm and Mastery of Mind, tomorrow. Chaos and discipline, and their confrontation are plenty enough for our work today!
Let's begin with chaos. You know I love science, and math. And, if any of you remember the original Jurassic Park film, you must remember Jeffrey Goldblum who was a chaotician, a specialized type of mathematician. I wouldn't want him flirting with my girl!
Can you remember how, according to chaos theory, beginnings are sensitive, and holding the lovely Laura Dern's hand, he allows a single drop of water to fall on her knuckle, explaining we can't know if it will flow this way or that?
While Master Sun surely had no modern mathematics, he was beyond outstanding with both math and philosophy and the sophistication of his analysis would easily stand up to anyone's today. He knows what he means when he uses the word "chaos."
I've been waiting to spring this on you! Enter...drum roll please...Rudyard Kipling! If. Oh please, listen to this amazing rendition and read along with the words:

I can't resist. I can't. I know that it wasn't intended to honor warriors, but rather to dishonor them. But the raw truth of this clip is irresistible to me. "I love the smell of napalm in the morning. It smells like victory."

I have discussed before, I believe, that my father was a GI during WWII. In the Philippines, he went out on patrols in the jungle, in the night. First target was the captain. Second the radio man. Third the medic. Fourth the rear guard. He shared with me the raw terror.
We never discussed Viet Nam. And, we never discussed Apocalypse Now. Yet, I am 100% confident that if you'd offered him the smell of napalm in the morning, he too would have loved it. Jungles are dangerous places, filled with chaos.
I don't believe I shared my father's discipline with you before. He would always get himself in trouble and reap kitchen duty as a result. He LOVED the kitchen. He even loved peeling potatoes. Compare that to a machine gun and you get the idea.
He was naturally good at getting himself in trouble, and got better and better at it until he was relieved of machine gun duty and made a cook. I will always remember his fried, sliced potatoes and eggs on Sunday mornings. That man could cook.
I suspect Master Sun would have promoted my father for his strategic capabilities, while laughing off his natural insubordination. Yeah, the acorn doesn't fall far, does it? Potatoes over bullets. I'm all in. But I'd still love the smell of napalm in the morning.
I want you to work hard on this one. If you wake up in the morning, in the jungle, and the jungle is gone, and you have no enemies in sight, how, exactly, is that a bad thing? War often happens, chaotically, in jungles.
And return with me again to our most important passage, verse 1: 2. What precedes discipline? The Way. Heaven. Earth. Command. Discipline is the 5th fundamental. Both the general above and the soldier below must confront chaos, together.
To confront chaos is to follow Command, no matter the risk. It is to walk upon the Earth, in the face of opposition. It is to scan the Heaven for its will, no matter how indiscernible. It is to ascertain The Way, no matter how opaque. Are you hearing Kipling?
I believe Master Sun would smile upon an adulthood based upon the acceptance of chaos, along with the mandate of imposing disciplined order. The order will always fray, that's what it does, that is the power of chaos.
And that is what I believe to be the heart, the core, the very essence of the MAGA movement. It is natural, understandable that our Constitutional Republic has frayed, fallen to the chaotic charms of the public weal and the Socialist Siren Call. It's natural to so err.
To win back our nation, we must be made of sterner stuff. We must defeat Socialism, utterly. We must condemn, practically and philosophically both, the Communist Manifesto into the dustbin of disproved evil directions, no different than slavery.
Obviously, we must retain the WH, regain the House and strengthen the Senate in 2020. But we must do so much more. We must face the chaotic battle for the hearts and minds of America in every district and win it completely and utterly with our discipline.
