During the 19th century Jews in Arab lands were forced into Ghettos

In Morroco they were called Mellahs (founded in the 15th century)

Jews were forced to take off their shoes if they exited the Mellah

Many were in close proximity to the king who the Jews depended
On for protection against a hostile population.

The first Mellah was created in Fez

In 1465, its inhabitants were nearly all killed by the rebels who overthrew the Merinid dynasty. That attack sparked a wave of violence against the Jews all over Morocco.
The immediate cause of the anti-Jewish violence was the appointment of a Jew to the post of vizier.

In the 16th century more were created
In Tunis they were called Hiras
In Yemen Jews were treated with distain at certain periods with them being forced to live in Ghettos and their homes not being able to be higher than a Muslims

In the 1600s there was a time in which nearly ALL Yemen Jews were wiped out

When Yemen was lead by Shia Governments it tended to be worse

In general Jews in Yemen were considered second class (as many other Muslim MENA states) with forced conversions and disrespect towards their religion

At some periods them touching food made it impure

Recently they
Created a Ghetto for the remaining Jews who didn't want to flee to Israel

The Houthis were their threat

Like Christan Europe there are many stories of lies told about Jews in Arab lands that they weren't loyal and collaborating with the enemy.

Important to educate people on Jewish life in the MENA

There are constant lies being told by their oppressors denying it ever happened and constant comparisons to Christian Europe.
