An Alabama prison K9 fell seriously ill after coming into contact with synthetic marijuana during a contraband raid at a state prison.

The drug-sniffing dog named Jake was part of a team conducting a contraband search late Thurs at Staton Correctional Facility in Elmore County
During the search, Jake alerted on a powdery substance. Within moments of detecting the substance, the K9 became unresponsive and was immediately transported to the Staton infirmary. Prison officials evacuated the dorm...hazmat
initial reports indicate Jake had a serious allergic reaction to the synthetic marijuana.

D&L Pharmacy in rural south AL received more than 1.3 million prescription opioid pills between 2006 & 2012. Gilbertown, located in Choctaw County near the Mississipppi line, claims fewer than 200 people, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. It’s not near any population centers.
👀 Yet more than 1.6 million pain pills moved through Gilbertown over that span. That’s nearly 1,500 pills per person per year - nearly double the per capita rate of the next highest town in Alabama.
